Emma Watson

Mrs. Emma Watson, 82, of 22823 Osborn St., Cassopolis, Michigan, died early Thursday morning, June 15, 2000, in her home after an extended illness. She was born October 10, 1917, in Helena, Arkansas, the youngest daughter of Edward H. and Cecelia (Dorsey) Young.

Emma had worked during World War II in a defense plant, and later worked at the Palmer House Hotel, Chicago, and at the post office in Chicago at Christmas time for several years. She married Earley Watson April 6, 1946, in St. Louis, Missouri, and he survives. Also surviving are a stepson, Carl Watson of Chicago; two nieces, Vera (William) Landrum and Effie Armistead, both of Indianapolis, Indiana; a sister-in-law, Henrietta Graves of Phoenix, Arizona; and her chosen daughter, Colyne Sorsby of Cassopolis. Emma was preceded in death by her daughter, Cecelia White-Thomas in 1996, and by her three sisters and one brother. Emma and Earley moved from Chicago to Cassopolis in 1989.

A funeral service will be held Monday, June 19, 2000, at 2:00 p.m. in the Connelly Funeral Home, Cassopolis. Officiating will be Rev. Rayvon Bufkin, pastor at House of Prayer Community Church, Cassopolis. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery. Friends may call in the funeral home Sunday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Cass County Hospice.
