Clyde E. Watson, Sr.

April 26, 1927 - June 17, 1998

Mr. Clyde Edward Watson, Sr., 71, dear husband, father, grandfather and brother, who resided on Western Avenue, South Bend, Ind., passed away following an illness at 9:55 a.m. on Wednesday, June 17, in his residence.

On April 26, 1927, in White Haven, Tenn., he was born to the union of the late Willard and Anna (Duncan) Watson, Sr. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, Gilbert and Hattie Duncan; and by a granddaughter, Jessica Marie Anderson. Coming from Tyronza, Ark., he moved to South Bend in 1995. He was united in marriage to Dollie Brown on Jan. 5, 1980.

For many years Mr. Watson worked for Fairfield Farms in Tyronza. At the time of his death he was employed by Wells Cargo, Inc., Elkhart, Ind. He was a United States Army veteran, honorably discharged in 1952. Fishing and hunting were two of his favorite pastimes that he avidly enjoyed.

Mr. Watson is survived by his wife Dollie; five daughters, Ida (Willie) Freeman of Racine, Wis., Elizabeth Brown of Marked Tree, Ark., Martha (Roderick) Moore of Tampa, Fla., Linda Bridges and Sylvia Beane, both of South Bend; four sons, Clyde (Lillian) Watson, Jr., of West Point, Miss., Donald (Patricia) Watson of Marked Tree, Ark., Leonard (Kathy) Brown of South Bend and Christopher (Jackie) Watson of Racine, Wis.; 17 grandchildren; a sister, Kathryn (Garfield) Mourrell of Marked Tree, Ark.; two brothers, Bobby (Joan) Watson of Kansas City, Mo., and Alvin (Martha Ann) Watson of Marked Tree, Ark.; his mother-in-law, Willie V. Davis of South Bend; four sisters-in-law, Deborah Davis of South Bend, Ida (Harry) Stephenson of St. Louis, Mo., Marilyn Bradford of Los Angeles, Calif., and Carol Douglas of Memphis, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Ronnie Green of South Bend; along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, where he was a member. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church.
