Virginia G. Waters, 83, of South
Bend, Ind., who resided in Elwood, Ind., for the past two years,
passed away at 8:03 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, in St. Vincent Mercy
Hospital, Elwood.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1916, to the late
Anthony and Hattie (Odynski) Golubski in South
Bend.
On April 14, 1945, as Virginia G. Golubski,
she married Joseph C. Waters in South Bend. He died on June 9,
1961. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Edward,
Anthony and Theodore Golubski. She remained a lifelong resident
until moving to Elwood two years ago. Mrs. Waters retired in 1980
as a telephone operator with Indiana Bell Telephone after 26
years of service. Mrs. Waters was a lifelong member of St.
Stanislaus Parish, and was a member of the Harvest House and the
Altar & Rosary Society of the church. She was also a member
of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Communication
Workers of America (CWA). She is survived by two daughters, Mary
Lee (Marvin) Janiak of Elwood and Cynthia (Robert) Martinelli
of South Bend; a son, David J. (Rhonda) Waters of Mishawaka,
Ind.; five grandsons, Steve Janiak of Indianapolis, Ind., Tony
Martinelli of South Bend, Andrew Martinelli of South Bend, Austin
Waters of Mishawaka and Adam Waters of Mishawaka; two sisters,
Adeline Blake of South Bend and Rosemarie (Dewayne) Campbell
of Escanaba, Mich.; and by a brother, Ralph (Joan) Golubski of
South Bend.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
today, Oct. 18, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix
Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 3:30
p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on
Thursday, Oct. 19, in St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. Interment
will follow at St. Joseph Polish Roman Catholic Cemetery.
