SOUTH BEND - Marie Cecilia Waters, 74, of San Diego, formerly of South Bend, died Wednesday evening in Thornton Hospital, La Jolla, Calif., after an illness. Mrs. Waters was born Jan. 25, 1920, and lived in South Bend 45 years, moving to San Diego four years ago.

Surviving are three daughters, Jennifer Stoff and Jill Waters, both of San Diego, and Judith Dodd of Santa Cruz; two sons, James of San Diego and Jeffery of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five sisters, Theresa Loughlin of San Francisco, Barbara Martin of Greenville, S.C., Susan Buckenmyer of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Katheryn Jones of Denver and Margaret Naomi Loughlin of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and three brothers, James Loughlin of Sacramento, Calif., John Loughlin of Indianapolis and Francis Loughlin of Fort Pierce, Fla. A granddaughter, Corinne Waters, and a grandson, Michael Dodd, preceded her in death.

She was a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hickey Funeral Home Cleveland Road Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road. Memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Society of St. Joseph County.
