Michael Wartha, aged 72, of 1033 North Wilber Street, died in his residence at 8:15 p.m. Sunday after a long illness. He was born in Austria Sept. 3, 1877, and came here 52 years ago from that country. He was married in South Bend to Johanna Tschida, who survives him. He leaves also one daughter, Sister Mary Candida, O.S.B., of the Benedictine convent in Clyde Mo.; two sons, Henry and Rudolph of South Bend; three grandchildren; a brother, Lawrence, of South Bend, and a sister, Mrs. Theresa Hesch, in Austria. He was a member of the St. Stephen's Benefit society of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and of the Holy Name Society of Holy Cross Catholic Church. Rev. Frederick Schulte will sing the mass. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery . The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home by the Holy Name Society of Holy Cross Church.
