Mrs. Mary Wartha, 81, of 51280
Prescott Avenue, died Monday in St. Joseph's Hospital after a
two-week illness. She was born Oct. 15, 1885, in Pali,
Sopron Megye, Hungary, and came here 64 years ago. She was
married Nov. 10, 1903, in St. Stephen's Church, South Bend, to
Lawrence Wartha, who preceded her in death. Surviving are a
son, Edward of South Bend; six daughters, Mrs. Theresa Szedenik,
Mrs. Olga Brothers and Mrs. Katherine Beutter, all
of South Bend; Mrs. Anna Arehart of Middleville, Mich.,
Mrs. Mary Valleau of Rockford, Ill. and Mrs. Betty Mendel
of Kouts; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two
sisters, Mrs. Anna Kovacs of South Bend and Mrs. Rose Kukodel,
in Hungary. Friends may call at 7 p.m. today in the Zahoran
Funeral Home. She was a member of the Sacred Heart and
Rosary Society of Our Lady of Hungary. The rosary will be
recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home by members of the
society.

WARTHA - Services for Mrs. Mary Wartha,
81, of 51280 Prescott Ave., who died Monday, will be held at 11
a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Hungary Church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. J.
Sabo, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. today in the Zahoran
Funeral Home.
