SOUTH BEND - Marie E. Wartha, 89, of Oakton,
Va., formerly of South Bend, died Monday in Oakton of natural
causes. Survivors include a son, Tom of Oakton; a sister, Hilde
Cox of Mishawaka; and a brother, Albert Wallisch of LaPorte.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic
Church. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in
the McGann Funeral Home, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, where a wake
service will be at 3 p.m.

SOUTH BEND
- Marie E. Wartha, 89, of Oakton, Va.,
formerly of 1021 N. Adams Street, South Bend, Ind., passed away
at 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, in Sunrise Hunter Mill Retirement
Center, Oakton. Mrs. Wartha was born in South Bend on Aug. 12,
1909, and was an area resident most of her life. She was a
homemaker. She is survived by a son, Tom Wartha of Oakton, Va.; a
sister, Hilde Cox of Mishawaka, Ind.; a brother, Albert Wallisch
of LaPorte, Ind.; a granddaughter, Kimberly Huddle of
Wellington, Fla.; two step-granddaughters, Jenifer Dungan
of Staunton, Va., and Amy Bergstrom of Silver Thurne,
Colo.; and by a sister-in-law, Lillian Wallisch of
Mishawaka. Mrs. Wartha was a member of Holy Cross Parish and the
Rosary Altar Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10
a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, at Holy Cross Catholic Church. Friends
may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the McGann Funeral
Homes, Council Oak Gardens Chapel, 21275 W. Cleveland Road, near
Portage, where there will be a wake service at 3 p.m. Burial will
be in Highland Cemetery.
