Lawrence Wartha, 2018 S. Catalpa
Ave., died at 4:15 a.m. today in St. Joseph Hospital
after two months' illness. Born in Pamhagen,
Austria, Feb. 27, 1871, he came here from that country 61 years
ago. On November 10, 1903, he married Miss Mary Nemeth, who
survives. He was a retired employee of the Ivan Bros. Co.
Surviving, also, are three sons, Joseph, Edward, and Anthony, all
of South Bend; six daughters, Mrs. Louis Beutter, Mrs. Gerald
Brother, both of South Bend; Mrs. Edward Arehart, Hopkins, Mich.,
Mrs. Michael Szedenick and Mrs. Arden Mendel, both of Kouts,
Ind.; 13 grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren; a sister,
Theresa, in Austria. Friends may call in Zahoran's Chapel after 7
p.m. today. Mr. Wartha was a member of Deutscher Fortbildungs
Verein.

Funeral Services for Lawrence Wartha,
2018 S. Catalpa Ave., will take place at 9 p.m. Tuesday in Our
Lady of Hungary Catholic Church. Rt. Rev. John Sabo, pastor, will
officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers
will be George Kovacs, Julius Hornyak, Henry and Rudolph Wartha,
Stephen Gyurick, and Edward F. Voorde. Friends may call at the
Zahoran Chapel after 2 p.m. today. the rosary will be recited
there
at 7 p.m. today by the Rosary and Sacred
Heart Societies of Our Lady of Hungary Parish. Among survivors is
a daughter, Mrs. Michael Szedenik, of South Bend.
