James Warrick

Mr. James Warrick, 76, of South Bend, Ind., passed away on Wednesday morning, March 21, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1923, in South Bend, to John and Myrtle Belle (Tridle) Warrick, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a son, Kenneth L. Warrick; and by a brother, A. Ernest Warrick.
On June 14, 1947, in South Bend, he married Ruth M. Calahan, who survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Patricia J. (Byron) McKinney of Porter, Ind., and Cheryl S. (John) Holmgren of Valparaiso, Ind.; four grandchildren, Thomas G. and Leann M. McKinney, Jennifer R. and Elizabeth M. Holmgren; and by a brother, John C. (Dorma) Warrick of Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Mr. Warrick retired from the South Shore Railroad where he worked in their maintenance and cleaning departments. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and was at Omaha Beach during the D-Day invasion. He was a member of the South Shore Veterans Association and the Michiana Heart Support Club. Mr. Warrick was a longtime member of the Community Congregational Church, and was a member of the church choir. James loved gardening and people, and liked sharing with others what he had produced from his own garden.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, March 24, in the Community Congregational Church, with Rev. Paul Blend officiating.
Friends are invited to visit with the family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, March 23, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road.
