OSCEOLA - Everett D. "Ray" Warren, 79, died Thursday in his home. Survivors include four daughters, Belinda Wallick, Lois Hawkins, Carolyn White and Jackie Trader, all of Osceola; three sons, Harold Wood of Mishawaka, Robert "Butch" Wood of Granger and Ray "Everett" Warren of South bend; and a sister, Verona Rutledge of Bethany, Okla. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.

Ray Warren, 79, of Osceola, Ind., passed away at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2006, in his home.

He retired in 1992 as a mechanic from Hill Truck Sales, Inc. Ray was born on November 14, 1927, in Clarksville, Ark., to William Ambrose and Lelia Mabel (Long) Warren. On January 30, 1965, in South Bend, he married Lorraine Demien, who preceded him in death on March 30, 1999.

Mr. Warren is survived by four daughters, Belinda (Dale) Wallick, Lois Hawkins, Carolyn (Grady) White and Jackie (Dave) Trader, all of Osceola; three sons, Harold (Sue) Wood of Mishawaka, Robert "Butch" (Darlene) Wood of Granger and Ray (Staci VanSchoiack) Warren of South Bend. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Jonathon Hawkins, Heather Hawkins, Scott (Shawna) White, Harold Wood, Samantha Wood, Christina (her fiancé Ryan Tropp) Trader, David Trader, Robert Wood, Allecia Wood, Katelyn Wood and Junell (Ted) Broskey; six great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Briana White, Theo, Stephanie and Shelby Broskey, and Tyler Wood; and one sister, Verona Rutledge of Bethany, Okla.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and four brothers.

Mr. Warren was former chief of both the fire and police departments of Osceola and was a member of Civil Defense. He was a member of the Penn Township 4-H Horse & Pony Club, Boy Scout master and Penn South Fire Department member. He was a World War II Army veteran, having served in Japan.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, Ind. Chaplain Steve Coyle will officiate. Military graveside services and burial will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Editor's Note: Ray's first wife was Beverly Pearl Soule and he had two daughters with her Lois and Carolyn. They divorced and he married Queenie, she died and he then married Lorraine, she died in 1999.
