Sister Mary John Gabriel CSC, 85, of St. Mary’s Convent, died in her residence Tuesday morning. Born Mary Elizabeth Ward on Oct. 10, 1885 in Detroit, she entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Cross in 1924, and professed her vows in 1927. She was assigned to schools in Esast Chicago, Washington DC, Maryland, New York and Pennsylvania before coming to St. Mary’s Convent in 1961.

Friends may call in St. Mary’s Convent parlors. Services wiil be at 7 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of Loretto Church, with burial in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery at St. Mary’s.
