SOUTH BEND - Elizabeth J. Ward, 94, of the Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, died after a brief illness at 5:50 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 13, in the health center. Mrs. Ward was born on July 12, 1903, in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong area resident. She was a former employee of the S.S. Kresge Company and the Brentwood Pharmacy.

On Jan. 19, 1942, as Elizabeth J. Putz, she married Donald L. Ward, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Theodore Putz; and by her sister, Marie Maciejewski.

She is survived by three nephews, Todd M. Putz of South Bend, George E. Putz of Valparaiso, Ind., and Joseph Putz of Jacksonville, Fla.; three stepdaughters, Eleanor Kolacz, Dolores Call and Norma Czerna; and by a stepson, Carl Ward.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home Chapel, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where friends may call one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Mrs. Ward was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, to which memorial contributions may be made.
