Russell Ward, 86, of Buckeye Road in Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 15, in Crestwood Assisted Living in Mishawaka. Mr. Ward was born on Jan. 10, 1914, to John and Cordellia (Furniss) Ward in Osceola, Mich.
On Oct. 17, 1936, he married his dearest wife, Lavine Lasazen in Battle Creek, Mich. She preceded him in death. Surviving relatives include his sister, Winona Proctor of Michigan, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Mr. Ward owned and operated the A.R. Ward Insurance Agency of Mishawaka for many years. He also blazed many horsetrails in Indiana and Michigan. Mr. Ward was a member of the Boots and Saddles Club where he performed square dances on horseback. Mr. Ward was also a member of the Elks Club in South Bend, as well as the Michigan Trail Riders Association, and the Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Mishawaka.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 19, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, Ind., where a Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Services will be conducted by Reverend James Miller at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 20, in the Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Mishawaka, with interment to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Ind.
