MISHAWAKA - Donald J. Waltz, 55, of Gregory Lane, died at 4:30 a.m. today in Memorial Hospital after an illness. Mr. Waltz was employed in insurance and investments and was a former employee of South Bend Cash Register Co. He was born Sept. 3, 1938, in Mishawaka, and was a lifelong area resident. On Sept. 16, 1961, in South Bend, he married Mary Sue Tatay. She survives, with three sons, Robert L. and Matthew J., both of Mishawaka, and Steven G. of Granger; one grandson; his mother, Nordina Waltz of Mishawaka; two sisters, Janice M. Binney of Grand Rapids and Christine Scelzo of Dowagiac; and a brother, Robert L. of South Bend.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Monica's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hahn Funeral Home, where a wake will be at 3:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
