Louise G. Walton, formerly of
Whitehall Drive, South Bend, Ind., died at 4:20 p.m. on Friday,
July 16, in Valley View Health Care Center, Elkhart, Ind., of
complications resulting from Alzheimer's disease. She had resided
at Valley View for the past seven years. Mrs. Walton was born on
March 6, 1916 in Sioux City, Iowa to Ross E. and Ida (Wohlfahrt)
Grange, both of who preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert D. Grange of
Andover, Mass., and Wallace O. Grange of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On July 5, 1945 she married L. Milton
''Milt'' Walton in Mishawka, Ind. Mr. Walton died in 1992. Louise
had resided in the area since originally moving to Mishawaka in
1941. She taught at Mishawaka High School from 1941 to 1946. She
was a graduate of Sioux City High School and Iowa State
University, and was a life long member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority,
and a member of the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Walton was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South
Bend, where she was active in various groups until her illness.
She is survived by her daughter, Leslie ''Lee'' (Bruce) Linenberg
of Indianapolis, Ind.; her son, David R. Walton of South Bend and
two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on
Tuesday, July 20 at the McGann Funeral Homes, 2313 E. Edison
Road, South Bend. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m.
Wednesday, July 21 in First Presbyterian Church, South Bend. At
Mrs. Walton's request her body has been donated to the Indiana
University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. Memorial
contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or to
the First Presbyterian Church of South Bend
