SOUTH BEND - Donald E. Walton, 63, of South Bend, IN, passed away
on Monday, January 4, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center,
Mishawaka, IN. He was born on December 24, 1946, in South Bend to
the late Alice Irene (DeSmith) and Donald Wilber Walton. After
his parents death, Donald was adopted and raised by Charles and
Katherine Walton. Donald was also preceded in death by his
adoptive father, Charles Walton and a daughter, Kasey McBee.
Donald is survived by a daughter, Joanna (Russ) Moore of
Mishawaka; a son, Kevin Walton of South Bend; two granddaughters,
Allison Marciniak and Kelsea Moore; his mother, Katherine Walton
Clark of Edwardsburg, MI; and his best friend and caretaker,
Harold Mike Toner of South Bend. Donald was a retired truck
driver for Steel Warehouse. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and
was a member of the American Legion - Bendix Post #284, South
Bend, and Keller Park Missionary Church, South Bend. He was an
avid NASCAR fan and Dale Earnhardt Jr., was his favorite driver.
He loved the University of Notre Dame and enjoyed Karaoke. Donald
was a loving and caring father, grandfather, son and friend and
will be greatly and sadly missed. Funeral services for Donald
will be at 11 a.m. Monday, January 11, in the Welsheimer Family
Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend, where friends may
call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Military rites will be performed
after the funeral service. The family request that memorial
contributions be made to Keller Park Missionary Church, 1003 W.
