Vesta E. Walters, 80, of 1001
Mayflower Road, South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended
illness at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27, in Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Walters was born on Feb. 11, 1920, in South Bend, and was a
lifetime resident of the Michiana area. She was preceded in death
by her parents, and by her only sister, Mildred Carson.
Vesta retired from C&S Sales as a secretary after 25 years of
service. During her employment years she also worked for Parkway
Asphalt for 12 years and the Bike-Web Corporation for 20 years.
Mrs. Walters is survived by a daughter,
Charyll A. (Dale) Holderbaum of Bremen, Ind.; a son,
William E. (Debra) Walters of South Bend; six grandchildren,
Louise M. Holderbaum, Christine E. Holderbaum, Kathy A.
Holderbaum, Denise A. Hock, Jeffrey J. Holderbaum and
William (Willie) Walters; two great-grandchildren, Karissa D.
Holderbaum and Eli S. Walters; and by two nephews, James Carson
and Ken Carson, both of South Bend, and a niece, Karen Carson of
South Bend.
Visitation hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6
to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 30, in the HANLEY & Sons
"Southwest Chapel" Funeral Home, located at West
Ireland Road/Ind. 23, South Bend.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on
Thursday, Aug. 31, in the First Brethren Church, located at 4909
South Ironwood Road, South Bend. Friends will be received in the
church one hour prior to services. Pastor Larry Baker will
officiate, and burial will follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery.
Mrs. Walters was a lifetime member of the
church, and loved her hobbies of reading, knitting, traveling,
and crocheting. All memorial contributions may be made to the
First Brethren Church, 4909 S. Ironwood Road, South Bend, IN
