SOUTH BEND - Patricia Ann Walters, 63, passed away of
natural causes on Saturday, Feb. 16, in the Saint Joseph Regional
Medical Center. Patricia was born on November 4, 1944, to Essie
Mae (Dorsey) Lowery and the late Abraham Dorsey in
South Bend.
She was a lifelong resident of South Bend
until she was united in marriage to Burl Walters on April 22,
1989. Burl preceded her in death on July 30, 1996. She was also
preceded in death by her father, Abraham Dorsey; a sister, Mary
Louise Riley; and by a brother, Abraham Dorsey II.
Patricia graduated from Central High School and began working for
the Bendix Corporation in South Bend and worked there for 38
years before retiring in September 2005. Survivors include her
mother, Mrs. Essie Mae Lowery, and stepfather, Aaron Lowery; a
sister, Barbara (Leroy) Tolbert; a brother, John (Valerie)
Dorsey; a stepbrother, David (Bobbie) Lowery, and stepsister,
Wanda Anderson, all of South Bend; a special niece,
Michelle Dorsey of South Bend; a very special cousin, Denis
Dorsey of Detroit, MI; two loving nephews, Curt (Karen) Dorsey of
Merrillville, IN, and Duane Riley of Kansas. She also leaves to
mourn lifelong friends, Lovell Brown and Edna Boone
of Houston, TX; and a special friend, Marilyn Oden of Lakeville,
IN. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews whom she
loved very dearly and showered with her affection and dedication.
Patricia lived a full and exciting life, which included traveling
and spending time with her family and friends. She was beautiful
inside and out, and will be truly missed by all. Her spirit will
live on in all of us because of her grace, compassion and
understanding. She is one in a million, and God had to prepare
one more set of wings for this angel.
Services for Mrs. Patricia Ann Walters will
be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, in the Clark-O'Neal Funeral
Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, where friends may call one hour
before services. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The
Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home has been entrusted with services.
