Leona M. Walters, 89, of the Eastlake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Elkhart, Ind., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 3. Leona was born on Feb. 6, 1911, in Mishawaka, Ind., to the late John and Anna (Hendricks) Tollens.

Leona married Richard C. Walters on Sept. 1, 1934, in Mishawaka, Ind. He preceded her in death.

Leona was a member of First United Methodist Church, Mishawaka, and of the Mishawaka Women's Club. Leona is survived by her children, Rebecca (Gary) Kinsella of Fort Myers, Fla., Sally (James) Beck of Vandalia, Mich., and Jay (Gloria) Walters of Farmington Hills, Mich. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane DeWitt of Arizona and Donna Lanum of Mishawaka; and by a brother, James Tollens of Mishawaka.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 5, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the funeral chapel, with Rev. Ronald Bowman officiating. Burial is to follow at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park.
