Dorothy Louise Walters, 86, of
Greenville, S.C., formerly of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at
10:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, in her son's and daughter-in-law's
home on Willowbrook Drive in South Bend, Ind. She was born on
July 29, 1912, in South Bend, to John and Antoinette (Cupinski)
Darr, and lived most of her life in the South Bend/Mishawaka
area. Mrs. Walters retired in 1978 after 25 years of employment
as a head teller with the First National Bank in Mishawaka, Ind.
On Jan, 1, 1929, as Dorothy Louise Darr,
she married Clement C. Walters, who preceded her in death in
November 1963. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and
by her three brothers, Dick, Johnny and Victor Darr. She is
survived by her daughter, Barbara L. (Robert) De Leu of
Greenville, S.C.; her son, Clem J. (Julie) Walters of South Bend;
14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren; and by two sisters, Florence Ernst
and Alice McMann, both of Mishawaka. Mrs. Walters was a
volunteer at St. Francis Hospital and St. Anthony School in
Greenville, the American Cancer Society in South Bend, and at St.
Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, in Little Flower Catholic Church.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at Little
Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Road, South Bend, where a
Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. and a wake service will be held
at 8 p.m. Contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of
St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court, South Bend, IN
46637-3437. The Kaniewski Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements
