James E. Walter
March 29, 1918 - Nov. 21, 2001
NORTH LIBERTY James Eric Walter, 83
years old, residing in Jupiter, FL, formerly of North Liberty,
passed away at 8:15 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21, 2001, at the
Hospice of Palm Beach County, West Palm Beach, FL. Mr. Walter was
born on March 29, 1918, in St. Joseph County, IN, to the late
Arthur John and Myrtle M. (Baughman) Walter. He has lived in
Jupiter, FL, since July 1, 1987, moving from Front Royal,
Virginia. On June 12, 1957, in South Bend, he married the former
Phyllis L. (Lem) Lahrson, who survives.
Along with his wife, Phyllis, survivors
include one daughter, Sharon L. (Michael) Cool of Indianapolis,
IN; one son, Jerry James Walter of St. Petersburg, FL; five
grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and one sister,
Marie (John) Jack of Bowie, Maryland. One brother, Malcolm A.
Walter, preceded in death on September 4, 1979.
Mr. Walter worked as a turbine engineer with
Aramco Corporation, Saudi Arabia, in the oil industry. He has
been a member of the Pine Creek Church of the Brethren, North
Liberty, since 1930. Mr. Walter was a member and P ast P atron of
the Order of Eastern Star, Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, P ast M aster
of the Masonic Symbolic Blue Lodge under the American Canadian
Provincial Grand Lodge, A.F. and A.M., within the United Grand
Lodges of Germany, A.F. and A.M. Mr. Walter formerly served with
the York Rite and Scottish Rite Masonic Shrines.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00
p.m. noon on Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at the Fair Cemetery,
North Liberty. Rev. Norman Replogle, pastor of the Pine Creek
Church of the Brethren, North Liberty, will officiate. Burial
will follow. Private visitation will be held on Tuesday morning
at the Palmer Funeral Home, Lakeville.
