Mae L. Walterhouse, 91, of West 13th
Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Monday,
Dec. 18, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Mae was
born in Marshall County on Sept. 20, 1909, to John and Elmira (Sellers)
Nifong, who both have preceded her in death. She was also
preceded in death by three brothers, Walter, Truman and Noble;
and by two sisters, Iva Troyer and Vera White. She
retired from Uniroyal in 1969 after 21 years of service. On April
11, 1931, in Plymouth, Ind., as Mae L. Nifong, she married Harold
C. Walterhouse. Harold survives. She is also survived by two
daughters, Nola M. (Ed) Workman of Mishawaka and Carol S.
(Butch) C.E. Boyer of Mishawaka; a son, H. Duane
(Rosemary) Walterhouse of Orlando, Fla.; six grandchildren, James
(Debbie) Walterhouse, serving as a mission to the deaf in
Tampico, Mexico, Janis Walterhouse of Jacksonville, Fla., Dan
(Susie) Workman of Angola, Ind., John (Susan) Workman of Granger,
Ind., Teresa Boyer of Mishawaka and Brian (Monica) Boyer of
Warsaw, Ind.; 10 great-grandchildren, Jonathon and Joshua of
Tampico, Mexico, Ryan, Samatha, Kyle and Chad of Angola, Erika
and Christopher of Granger, and Tony and Alex Boyer of Warsaw;
and by a brother, Cyrus (Grace) Nifong of Plymouth. Mae attended
Grace Brethren Church of Osceola, Ind.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Dec. 20, and friends may call one hour before services. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Distler. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
