SOUTH BEND - Harry Joseph Walter, 79, of South St. Joseph Street, died of natural causes at 9:45 p.m. Monday in St. Joseph's Medical Center. Mr. Walter retired as the owner of Walter Dry Cleaners and also retired in 1983 from Ranita Inc. He was born Feb. 16, 1917, in South Bend.

On Sept. 15, 1945, in South Bend, he married Norma Hans. She survives with three daughters, Carolyne Roberts, Betsy Martinez and Sally Sorberg, all of South Bend; eight grandchildren; and a brother, David E. of South Bend.

He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II, and a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood Drive. Entombment will be in Riverview Mausoleum. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society.
