Alphonse F. Walorski, 92, of West
Washington Street in South Bend, Indiana, formerly of North Ryer
Street in South Bend, passed away at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, November
1, 2001, in St. Joseph Re-gional Medical Center following a brief
illness. He was born on June 27, 1909, to the late Frank and Mary
(Lodyga) Walorski in South Bend, and was a lifelong
resident. Two brothers, Joseph and Casimir Walorski, both
preceded him in death. Mr. Walorski retired in 1971 from the
Bendix Corporation where he worked in the Brake and Steering
Division for 42 years.
On August 2, 1947, he married Ruth G.
Marshall in St. Stanislaus Kostka Catholic Church, Terre Coupee,
Indiana. She died on May 7, 1992. He is survived by one son,
Ralph J. Walorski of Houston, Texas; one sister, Sophia Adamski
of South Bend; one daughter-in-law, Lisa of Houston; and two
grandchildren, Holly and Ryan Rice, both of Houston. He is
also survived by four nieces and nine nephews. Mr. Walorski was
an Army Veteran of WW II. He was a member of St. John the Baptist
Parish, St. Joseph Young Men's Society, Bendix Retiree's Group,
St. Adalbert's Harvest House, and American Legion Pulaski Post
#357. A former singer with St. John the Baptist Choir, St.
Casimir Polish Choir, Forever Learning Institute Chorus, and
Polka Mass Singers, he sang once a month for the residents of St.
Joseph Care Center-West. He also attended Real Services luncheons
regularly. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and dry
sense of humor.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
10:00 a.m. Monday, November 5, 2001, at St. John the Baptist
Catholic Church, with Rev. Terry Place officiating. Burial will
take place in St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4
p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2001, in Kaniewski
Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a Parish
Vigil Service will be held at 3:00 p.m.
