SOUTH BEND - Charles ''Whitey'' Wallace,
80, of West Bryan Street, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial
Hospital after an illness. Mr. Wallace retired from Bendix Corp.
as a press operator and was a former employee of Studebaker Corp.
He was born May 23, 1915, in Clinton, Ind., and lived in South
Bend since 1942.
On Jan. 27, 1945, in South Bend, he married
Sarah E. Moffett. She survives with two sisters, Mary
Alice Carlson and Frances Ellis, both of Clinton;
and a brother, Russell of Dana, Ind. He was an Army veteran of
World War II, past commander of American Legion Post 284, a
member of Moose Lodge 58, and South Bend Mennerchor Club.
Memorial services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday
in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Cremation will
take place. Friends may call following services in the funeral
home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart
Association.
