Verna Walkowiak

June 25, 1904 - Aug. 10, 2000

Verna Walkowiak, 96, of Ironwood Health & Rehabilitation, South Bend, Ind., passed away on Thursday, Aug. 10, in the nursing home.

She was born on June 25, 1904, in South Bend, to the late Frank and Magdaline (Pawlicki) Walkowiak. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Helen Monserez, Bernice Kovatch, Jenny Ruszkowski and Marya Munuszak.

Ms. Walkowiak was employed for many years with the Wilson Brothers Shirt Company.

She is survived by a great-nephew, Paul (Karen) Niezgodzki of South Bend; and by several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, in St. Hedwig Catholic Church. Friends may call one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
