Louis J. Walkowiak

August 15, 1897 - October 5, 1976

Louis J. Walkowiak, 79, of 1141 N. Brookfield St., died at 5:15am today in St Joseph's Hospital after a month's illness.  He retired in 1956 from the South Bend Fire Department after 36 1/2 years.

Born August 15, 1897, in South Bend, he had lived here his lifetime.  On August 14, 1944, he married Lucille Rozewicz, who survives.  Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Darlene Hoover of South Bend; a son, Louis S. of South Bend; three grandchildren and two brothers, Stanley and Leo, both of South Bend.

Services will be at 10am Friday in the Holy Cross Catholic Church.  Rev. William J. Neidhart, CSC, pastor, will officiate.  Burial will be in St Joseph Cemetery. 

Friends may call from 7 to 9pm Wednesday and 2 to 9pm Thursday in the Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home where a parish wake service will be at 7:30pm Thursday.
