M. Grace Walker

M. Grace Walker, 100, of Syracuse,
Ind., passed away at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, in Miller's
Merry Manor, Syracuse. Mrs. Walker was formerly of Northside
Boulevard, South Bend, Ind. She was born Nov. 16, 1901, in
Baroda, Mich., to William and Mary (Armstrong) Brown,
who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by two
sisters and two brothers.
On Feb. 14, 1922, in South Bend, she married
H. Ray Walker, who died Dec. 17, 1983. Mrs. Walker is survived by
her children, Mary (George) Henkler of Osceola, Ind.,
Howard (Chris) Walker of Gallatin, Tenn., John (Pat) Walker of
Fort Wayne, Ind., and Edgar (Mary) Walker of Cromwell, Ind. She
was preceded in death by a son, Garfield Walker, who died in
1999. However, his wife, Yvonne, survives. Mrs. Walker also has
13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two
great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Albright
United Methodist Church of Mishawaka, Ind., where she served as
past president of the United Methodist Women.
Funeral services for Mrs. Walker will be
held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Albright United Methodist Church,
with Rev. Dennis Ingle officiating. Friends will be received from
2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North,
3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka, and one hour prior to the
services in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the
Albright United Methodist Church.
