SOUTH BEND - Burton L. ''Bud'' Walker,
74, of Indianapolis, formerly of South Bend, died at 10:30 a.m.
Thursday in St. Vincent Hospice, Indianapolis, after an illness.
Mr. Walker was a retired sales representative for General
Electric Heating and Air Conditioning Co., where he had been
employed for 25 years. He also was the former owner of Walker
Heating and Air Conditioning Co. Mr. Walker was born on May 17,
1921, in Atchison, Kan.
On June 1, 1946, in South Bend, he married
Betty J. Borden. She survives with a daughter, Patricia A.
Hale of Spencer, Ind.; four grandchildren; his mother,
Ellen M. Walker of Mishawaka; two sisters, Barbara J. Benko
of South Bend and Marlene L. Wetnight of Terre Haute,
Ind.; and a brother, Don L. Walker of Carmel, Ind. Mr. Walker was
a retired lieutenant colonel of the Marine Corps, having served
in World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Walker was a member of
Northwood Christian Church, Indianapolis, St. Joseph Lodge 45 of
Free and Accepted Masons, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, and
Murat Shrine Temple of Indianapolis.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday in Flanner & Buchanan Broadripple Mortuary, Indianapolis, where a Masonic service will be held at 5 p.m. Sunday. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., where friends may call an hour prior to services. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or Sheppard Center, Indianapolis.
