SOUTH BEND - Gordon C. Wagner, 83, of 2402 E. Wilson St., died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday in his home. Mr. Wagner retired as the owner/operator of the former Wagner Steel Fabrication, Mishawaka. He was born Sept. 10, 1912, in Mishawaka.

On May 27, 1939, in Mishawaka, he married Rose Persyn. She survives with a daughter, Susan Pearman of Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Charles G. of South Bend; a grandson; a sister, Virginia Phillips of South Bend; and a brother, Charles of Marina, Calif. He was a member of Elks Lodge 235, Morris Park Country Club, ASCAP and Songwriters Guild of America. Wagner Steel was sponsor of the state champion fast-pitch softball teams in 1964 and 1965.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place. There will be no visitation. Hollis-Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of St. Joseph County Inc.
