Oscar R. Vollmer, 82, of East 12th
Street, Mishawaka, passed away at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, in
Memorial Hospital, South Bend. Oscar was born on Sept. 23, 1922,
in South Bend, to the late Oscar Jacob and Lenora Elizabeth (Beaver)
Vollmer. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Charles
D. Vollmer and William I. Vollmer.
On June 5, 1948, in St. Bavo Catholic
Church, Mishawaka, he married the former Alice Van Goethem,
who preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2002. Oscar is survived by
a son, Richard (Barbara) Vollmer of Mishawaka; a daughter,
Patricia Ann Vollmer of Mishawaka; a sister, Minnie Del Rodts
of Beverly Hills, FL; and two brothers, Elmer Leroy Vollmer of
Dowagiac, MI, and Ralph Michael Vollmer of South Bend. Oscar was
a lifetime area resident, and was co-owner and operator of Dicks
Auto Paints Supply, Inc. He was a veteran of the United States
Army, serving his country proudly during World War II. He was a
member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka, VFW life member
Post #360, DAV, the Eagles of Mishawaka and the Moose Lodge of
South Bend.
Family and friends may visit from 1 to 5
p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 16, where a Rosary will be recited at 1:30
p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. A
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan.
17, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, with Rev. Robert Yast
officiating. Entombment will follow in Fairview Cemetery
Mausoleum. Contributions may be made in memory of Oscar to the
charity of the donor's choice.
