Alice M. Vollmer, 80, of East 12th
Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 14, in
Fountainview Place, Mishawaka. Alice was born on July 20, 1922,
as the daughter of the late Cyrieles and Margareta (Paelnick)
Van Goethem. She was also preceded in death by one sister,
Mary Van Der Beke, who passed away on March 6, 1994.
On June 5, 1948, as the former Alice Van
Goethem, she married Oscar R. "Dick" Vollmer in St.
Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka. She is survived by her husband
of 54 years, Oscar; a daughter, Patricia Ann Vollmer of
Mishawaka; and a son, Richard (Barbara Brebis) Vollmer of
Mishawaka; a niece, Louise Schlundt of Mishawaka; and by several
great-nieces and nephews.
Alice worked for the Osteopathic Hospital,
South Bend, Ind., and as a seamstress for many years. She then
became co-owner and operator of Dick's Auto Paint Supply, Inc.,
for many years before her retirement in 1987. She was a lifetime
area resident, and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church,
Mishawaka, the Rosary Society, and V.F.W. Post 360 Auxiliary.
Visitation will be today, Dec. 17, from 2 to
4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 West 8th Street,
Mishawaka. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10 a.m.
on Wednesday, Dec. 18, in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mishawaka.
Rev. Robert Yast will be officiating. Entombment will follow at
the Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum. In memory of Alice, the family
request donations be made to the charity of donor's choice.
