Mabel Helen Voitel, 88, of Gulf
Breeze, Fla., formerly of Marquette Avenue, South Bend, Ind.,
died on Friday, May 28, in the Bay Breeze Nursing Home, Gulf
Breeze, Fla. She was born on March 29, 1911, in Michigan City,
Ind., to Anna E. (Defebaugh) and Jacob M. Ritchie,
both of whom preceded her in death. She was preceded in death by
two sisters, Nellie Bowlby and Dorothula Killingbeck;
and by a brother, Loren Ritchie.
On Aug. 19, 1930, in LaPorte, Ind., as Mabel
Helen Ritchie, she married Raymond W. Voitel, who also preceded
her in death on Sept. 19, 1996. Mrs. Voitel is survived by a
daughter, Joan M. Chandler of Cassopolis, Mich.; two sons,
Duane R. Voitel of Mt. Airy, Md., and Dale F. Voitel of Navarre,
Fla.; and by 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs.
Voitel was a homemaker. She was a member of the Gospel Center
Missionary Church, South Bend, and the Women's Group at the
church.
Services for Mrs. Voitel will be at 11 a.m.
on Monday, June 14, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 North
William Street, South Bend. Rev. Warren Banks of the Gospel
Center Missionary Church will conduct the services. Friends may
call one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will
be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, Ind. The family
has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American
Cancer Society, 535 West Edison, Unit #6, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or
to the Alzheimer's Association-Northern Indiana Chapter,
Jefferson Medical Arts Building, 919 E. Jefferson Blvd. #01,
South Bend, IN 46617-3119.
