SOUTH BEND - Carolyn B. Vogel, 81, of Fountainview Place of Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 3:59 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 18, in the nursing home.
She was born on March 3, 1917, in South Bend, Ind., and was a lifelong resident. She was preceded in death by her parents, Boleslaw and Jozefa Drzewiecki; three sisters, Helen Lodyga, Sally Badgley and Pat Mello; and by a brother, Frank Drzewiecki. On
Nov. 9, 1940, in South Bend, as Carolyn B. Drzewiecki, she married Nelson J. Vogel, who also preceded her in death on April 8, 1967.
Mrs. Vogel is survived by four sons, Mike (Gail) of Allentown, Pa., Nelson, Jr., (Sandy) of South Bend, Greg (Jan) of Elkhart, Ind., and Tom (Cheri) of Sharpsville, Ind.; nine grandchildren, Brian, Amy, Josh, Jake, Jesse, Ryan, Justin, Nathan and Lindsey Vogel; one great-grandchild, Grant Vogel; and by a sister, Louise Dzierla of South Bend.
Mrs. Vogel was a member of St. Matthew's Parish and Golden Cluster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in St. Matthew Cathedral.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m.
