Domenico Violi, 76, of East Lawrence Street,
Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 3:28 p.m.
on Friday, May 28, in the Saint Joseph's Regional Medical Center,
South Bend, Ind.
Domenico was born in Plati, Italy, on Oct.
21, 1922, to the late Antonio and Marianna (Barbaro) Violi. He
was also preceded in death by a sister, Bettina in 1997.
Mr. Violi came to Mishawaka in 1956 from
Plati. He returned to Italy to marry the former Maria Mittiga on
Sept. 22, 1960. Maria survives.
He is also survived by a son, Tony Violi of
Mishawaka; two sisters, Maria and Anna, both of Italy; two
brothers, Frank (Catherine) and Sam (Julia) Violi, both of
Mishawaka; and by six nieces and 11 nephews.
Domenico retired from Gilbert's Clothing
Store in 1987 where he had been a tailor for 25 years. He was a
member of St. Monica Church, Mishawaka, and the Diloreto Club in
Mishawaka.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8
p.m. today in the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, Mishawaka,
where a wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
on Tuesday, June 1, in St. Monica Church, with Fr. William
Sullivan officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery,
Mishawaka.
