John W. Vicsek

Aug. 6, 1932 - Dec. 18, 1996

John W. Vicsek, 64, of State Route 152, Dowagiac, Mich., formerly of Liberty Drive, Mishawaka, Ind., died at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, in St. Joseph's Medical Center, South Bend, Ind.

He was born on Aug. 6, 1932, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident. On June 10, 1953, in South Bend, he married Mary T. ''Marie'' Mandeville, who preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1992.

He is survived by three daughters, Diane Sabaj, Theresa Pietrzak, and Karen Casey, all of Mishawaka; a son, Edward R. Vicsek of Mishawaka; six grandchildren, Sonya and Brett Jackson, Becky Pietrzak, Kearsten Casey, Erica and Alex Vicsek, all of Mishawaka; one great-granddaughter, Meressa Gleva of Mishawaka; one sister, Betty Everts; and a brother, Joseph Vicsek, both of Mishawaka; and his companion, Vesta Secor of Dowagiac.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Alex.

Mr. Vicsek retired in 1995 from Dodge Reliance Company, after nine years of service, where he was a schedule set-up man. Prior to that, he'd worked 30 years for Wheelabrator-Frye Corporation. He was a veteran of the United States Navy.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
