Hector L. Vervaet

MISHAWAKA - Hector L. Vervaet, 37, of 1022 West Sixth Street, who suffered a compound fracture of the right leg when he fell from the roof of his garage, while remodeling it Sunday afternoon, died Tuesday evening in St. Joseph Hospital, following an amputation of the leg. He was born Oct. 14, in Wachtebeke, East Flanders, Belgium and came here 25 years ago from Belgium.

 

He married Miss Irma DeBaets on May 15, 1922 in Mishawaka, who survives. He was employed in the foreign shipping department of the Studebaker Corporation. Survicing besides his wife are; his mother, Mrs. Mary Verhaeghe of Mishawaka; and four children, Cyriel, Jennie, Gloria and Dorothy, at home. Surviving also are two brothers, Octaaf Vervaet of Canada; and William Vervaet of Mishawaka; and five sisters, Mrs. Elvira Brackelaere, Mrs. Jenie VanVoorman, Mrs. Madeline Mostaert, Mrs. Simona Stoobandt, and Mrs Emile Varewyck, all of Mishawaka.

 

Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday morning in St. Bavo’s Catholic Church and burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the church.
