Joseph Paul Vertesch, 96, of South
Bend, passed away Wednesday, August 10, 2005 in his home
following an illness. He was born August 21, 1908, in South Bend
to Joseph and Theresa (Pinezich) Vertesich, and had remained a
lifelong resident of this community. He was a graduate of Central
High School, and retired as Comptroller at Interstate Paint &
Glass Company, South Bend. He was a longtime member of St.
Matthew's Cathedral.
On December 28, 1935, in South Bend, he
married Rose Ann Horvath. She preceded him in death on
December 19, 1985. He was also preceded in death by a brother,
Paul Vertesch. Mr. Vertesch is survived by a daughter, Rose
(Paul) Deignan of Fishers, IN; two sons, Paul F. (Janet)
Vertesch of Centerville, IN, and J. Scott (Karen) Vertesch of
Schererville, IN. Also surviving are six grandchildren,
Christopher Vertesch, Kevin Vertesch, Michael Vertesch, Stephen
Vertesch, Brian Vertesch, and Kelley Deignan- Skolnik;
triplet great-grandchildren, Noah, Lauren, and Austin Vertesch.
He is also survived by his sister, Theresa Hojnacki of
South Bend; and Myra Mazur, his caregiver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be
celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 15, in St. Matthew's
Cathedral. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family
will receive friends from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the Palmer
Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South
Bend. Contributions in memory of Mr. Vertesch may be offered to
