Mary A. Verslype
Aug. 10, 1910 - April 1, 2003
Mary A. Verslype, 92, of 13th Street,
Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, in
Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.
Mary was born on Aug. 10, 1910, in Stekene,
East Flanders, Belgium, as the daughter of the late Edmond and
Nathalia (Verstraaten) Van Poppel. She was also preceded in death
by a brother, Cyriel Van Poppel; and by her daughter, Rosemary
Scheuer on June 28, 1995. On July 17, 1930, in St. Bavo Catholic
Church, Mishawaka, as the former Mary Van Poppel, she married
Henry Verslype, who also preceded her in death on July 17, 1996.
Mary is survived by three sons, John (Judi)
Verslype of El Paso, Texas, Phillip (Bonnie) Verslype of
Mishawaka and Paul (Linda) Verslype of Centerville, Ohio. She is
also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mary was a member of St. Bavo Catholic
Church, Mishawaka, the BK Club and the Junior Altar Society. She
enjoyed 40 years of ballroom dancing. Mary was a loving mother,
grandmother and friend. She will be truly missed by everyone who
knew and loved her.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
today, April 3, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St.,
Mishawaka, where a Rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at
noon Friday, April 4, in St. Bavo Catholic Church, Mishawaka,
with Rev. Barry England officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel
Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Ind.
