SOUTH BEND - Lillian Marie Verhaegen,
86, of the St. Joseph Care Center West, South Bend, Ind., died at
2:50 p.m. on Sunday, April 19, in the center. She was born on
Aug. 28, 1911, in St. Louis, Mo., to Ida Mae (Henry) and William Bradford,
and had lived in the South Bend area for 62 years, moving here
from Akron, Ohio. Mrs. Verhaegen was a homemaker.
On Jan. 2, 1930, in Akron, she married Leo
Verhaegen, who preceded her in death in November 1979. She was
also preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her two
daughters, Jo-Ann Mays of North Liberty, Ind., and
Margaret Fine of Terre Haute, Ind.; four sons, Harvey
Verhaegen of Decatur, Ill., Leo Verhaegen of Indianapolis, Ind.,
Victor and Robert Verhaegen, both of South Bend; and by 19
grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
Services will at 10 a.m. on Thursday, April
23, in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William Street, South
Bend. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the funeral home.
