Carol Ann Vena
MISHAWAKA - Carol Ann Vena, 69, of
Mishawaka, passed away after an illness on the morning of
Wednesday, December 20, in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation
Center, South Bend. Carol was born on August 7, 1937, in
Mishawaka, as the daughter of the now late Corydon and Helen (Luther)
Hensel. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Aletha Hensel.
On December 4, 1955, in Mishawaka, as the former Carol Ann
Hensel, she married Maxie Max Vena. Surviving Carol
are her loving husband of 51 years, Max; four children, Bruce
(Sally) Vena, Michael (Debbie) Vena, Sheri Crowell and
Shelley (Carl) O'Konski, all of Mishawaka; 13
grandchildren, Trinity (Brad) De Wulf, Jeremiah Vena,
Bridget Vena, Travis Vena, Kirk Vena, Michele (Mike) Renley,
Jennifer Vena, Lindsay (Josh) Roberts-Stalcup, Holly
(Josh) Lederer, Brittney Crowell, Anthony Crowell, Autumn
O'Konski and Max O'Konski; three great-grandchildren, Kayla De
Wulf, Jordan O'Konski and Cameron O'Konski; and two brothers,
Larry (Elsie) Hensel of Mishawaka and Dennis (Yavonne) Hensel of
Niles, Michigan.
Carol was employed as a librarian by School City of Mishawaka at
LaSalle Elementary School for 17 years before she retired. She
was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Carol
could brighten up a room just by entering. She will be missed by
all who knew and loved her.
Friends may call 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, in
the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th St. in Mishawaka. Funeral
services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 23, in the
funeral home, with the Rev. John Wilson and Rev. Ramona Wilson
officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
