SOUTH BEND - Services for Charles Leo ''Hoppy'' Venable, 68, of 1116 W. Colfax, who died at 7:45 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital after an illness, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Clark's Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call after 11 a.m. until services Tuesday in the funeral home.

Mr. Venable was born Dec. 3, 1925, in Searcy, Ark., and lived in South Bend since 1952, coming from Searcy. Surviving are a sister, Helen DuPriest of South Bend; and two half brothers, Turner Brown of Detroit and James Brown of Little Rock, Ark. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church.
