Laura Belle Veach, 76, of Hass Dr. in
South Bend died at 9:37 p.m. Wednesday June 14, 2000 in St.
Joseph's Regional Medical Center following an illness. Mrs. Veach
was born July 3, 1923 in Ft. Wayne, Ind. to Benjamin F. and Mary
(Munger) Maggert and had lived in South Bend since
1941 coming from Butler, Ind.
On December 5, 1941 in South Bend she
married Charles D. "Chuck" Veach who survives. Also
surviving is a daughter, Julie Ann (Donald E.) Berta of
South Bend; one son, C. Joel Veach of South Bend; two
granddaughters, Lori (Michael) Farinella and Jill C. Clayton
both of Niles, Mich.; four great grandchildren, Joshua, Mike,
Taylor and Brad; and one sister, Mary Jane Reinhart of
Butler. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister,
Florence Maggert Carothers; and two brothers, Robert
Maggart and William Maggert.
Mrs. Veach retired from the former Gilbert's
Men Store as a salesperson and had also been employed at the
former Max Adler's Store. She was a member of First Baptist
Church of South Bend and was known and beloved by her family and
friends as a wonderful and loving friend, mother, and
grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m.
Monday June 19, 2000 in the First Baptist Church, 3010 S.
Ironwood Dr., South Bend with Rev. Ronald Newsom officiating.
Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park,
Granger. Friends may call from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, June 18th
in the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Memorial
