Maureen M. Vargo, 68, of South Bend, passed away at 10:59 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2005, in Memorial Hospital. Maureen was born on March 10, 1937, in South Bend, to Frank and Mary "Mitzi" (Scheu) Madar. On April 26, 1959, in South Bend, she married Michael P. Vargo, who survives along with her mother; a daughter, Joanne (Gary) Vida of South Bend; two sons, Michael Vargo and Frank Vargo, both of South Bend; four grandchildren, Joseph, Nathan, Nicholas and Natalie; and a sister, Roseanne Smorse of South Bend. Maureen was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved to cook.

There will be no services or visitation per Mrs. Vargo's wishes. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Hungary School or Our Lady of Hungary Church. Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 S. Kemble Avenue, is handling the arrangements. The family would like to express a special thank you to the nurses of the intensive care unit and 11th floor of Memorial Hospital.
