Frances Agnes (Kass) Van Winkle, 83, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006. She was born September 30, 1922, in South Bend, Indiana, to Paul and Mary Kass.
She was married January 6, 1945, to Edmund R. Van Winkle, who preceded her in death after 54 1/2 years of marriage on July 6, 1999. Ed and Frances moved to Seattle in 1945 and then to Kirkland in 1956. In 2002 Frances moved into The Chateau at Bothell Landing where she took great delight in being a part of The Chateau Singers. She had been a resident of Foundation House at Bothell since March 2006. Frances was kind, loving and caring and always thoughtful of others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Frances is survived by her children, Paul (Tina) and Mary (Rod) Kiefel; her stepchildren, Rose Marie and Edmund A. (Tamela); and grandchildren, Matthew, Monica and Hannah; her brother, Lawrence Kass of Largo, Florida; sister, Pauline Grochowski of South Bend; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul, George, Aloysius, Robert and Christian; and sisters, Elisabeth Miller and Mary Durand.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at Purdy & Walters at Floral Hills, 409 Filbert Road, Lynnwood, WA 98036. Frances had many favorite charities. If you wish to make a remembrance in her name, please choose one of your favorites.
