Edmund R. ''Ed'' VanWinkle, 86, resident of Kirkland since 1956, died July 6, 1999.
He was born Feb. 21, 1913, in Isabella, Michigan. When he was three weeks old, his family moved to a farm (Prairie View Farm) in Granger, Ind.
About 1937, Ed moved to South Bend, Indiana, where he worked as Warehouse Superintendent/Manager of Stanz Cheese Company. Ed came to the Seattle area in 1944. He was employed by Puget Power for 34 years, and was Chief Power Dispatcher, Eastside, when he retired in 1978; after which he continued with Puget Power, where he developed a training program for power dispatchers. Ed always enjoyed music, working with his hands, and fellowship with his many friends.
He was a Charter Member of Lake Washington United Methodist Church where he had served in various capacities.
Ed is survived by Frances, his loving wife of 54 years; his children, Rose Marie, Edmund (Tamela), Paul (Kristine), and Mary (Rod) Kiefel; grandchildren, Monica, Matthew and Hannah.
He was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, 1999, with burial at Floral Hills Cemetery, Lynnwood, Washington.
