Albert VanWanzeele (June 5, 1917 -- Jan. 8,
2006)
Albert VanWanzeele, 88, of Otterbein,
Ind., formerly of Walkerton, died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 8,
2006, in University Place, West Lafayette, Ind.
Albert was born on June 5, 1917, in
Walkerton, to Josephine (Joli) and Charles VanWanzeele,
who are both deceased. He was a 1935 graduate of Walkerton High
School and was in the Army Air Corp. in World War II. On Oct. 23,
1945, in Lafayette, he married Alice Harrington, who survives. He
was a farmer and lived in Otterbein for 38 years. Albert was a
member of St. Charles Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He
enjoyed farming, gardening, bowling and playing cards.
Albert is survived by his wife, Alice; a
daughter, Susan (David) Scheessele of Yorktown, Va.; four
sons, Steven of Plainfield, Ind., David of Monticello, Ind., and
Dennis and Alan, both of Otterbein; eight grandchildren; and 11
great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Myerjack
and a brother, Marceline.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 13,
2006, in St. Charles Catholic Church with Father Jeremy
Harrington officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m.
Thursday in Shoemaker Funeral Home, Otterbein. Burial will take
place Jan. 13, 2006, at Tippecanoe Memory Garden, West Lafayette,
IN, where military rites by the Otterbein American Legion will be
performed.
Memorials may be made to the Otterbein Area
Volunteer Fire & Rescue or to Franciscan Friars.
