Mary (Charnoski) VanVooren, 93,
formerly of East Lawrence Street, Mishawaka, died at 9:30 a.m.
Thursday, November 1 in the home of her daughter in Kalamazoo,
Mich. She was born in Chicago on April 11, 1908, and had lived in
Mishawaka most of her life.
As Mary Charnoski she married Camiel
Van Vooren in Mishawaka in St. Michael Ukrainian Catholic Church
on September 9, 1928. Camiel died in 1970. Mary was also preceded
in death by her parents Michael and Mary (Ivanyiga)
Charnoski; two sisters, Rose and Ann; and two brothers, John and
Michael, along with a great-granddaughter, Stephanie. Mrs. Van
Vooren is survived by two daughters, Karen (Robert) Price of
Kalamazoo and Mary (Robert) Buwa of Mishawaka; six
grandchildren, Vick (Rose) Reed of Arlington, Texas, Kathy
Rose of Matheson, Colo., Michael Rose of Dowagiac, Mich.,
Stephen Price, David Price and Lisa Price, all of Kalamazoo; and
three great-grandchildren and four great- great-grandchildren.
Besides her dedication to her family, Mary loved her cottage
retreat at Diamond Lake, gardening, canning, fishing, collecting
and cleaning black walnuts and sewing.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday
November 4 in Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street,
Mishawaka. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in St.
Monica Catholic Church with Fr. Derrick Sneyd officiating. Burial
will follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
