Dorothy Van Tornhout

August 1, 1915 – January 17, 2001

Dorothy Van Tornhout, 85, of Fountainview Place of Mishawaka IN, died at 2:45pm on Wednesday, January 17, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend IN.

She was born on August 1, 1915, in South Bend IN, and was the daughter of the late Theodore and Anna (Starzynski) Reiter.  On August 9, 1941, in South Bend, as Dorothy Reiter, she married Edmund Van Tornhout, who preceded her in death in 1982.  She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ten and Benjamin Reiter.

She is survived by a son, Ron (Linda) Van Tornhout of South Bend; four grandchildren, Annette Plonka, Ronald Van Tornhout Jr., Jeffery Van Tornhout and Craig Van Tornhout, all of South Bend; seven great grandchildren, Dani, Emily, Allison and Cole Van Tornhout, and Nicholas, Kayla and Kamden Plonka, all of South Bend.

Mrs. Van Tornhout was a member of the St Ann’s Society of Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 8pm today, January 19, in the St Joseph Funeral Home, 824 S. Mayflower Road.  Services will be at 10am on Saturday, January 20, in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
