Maurice J. Van Poelvoorde, 90, of River Avenue, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away at 7:30 a.m. on Monday, June 16, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. Maurice was born on June 4, 1913, in Mishawaka, as the son of the late Jacob and Romanie (Pattew) Van Poelvoorde. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Julius Van Poelvoorde.
On April 5, 1941, in Mishawaka, he married the former Anna C. Smet. Maurice is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anna; a daughter, Beverly (Arthur) Conley of Plymouth, Ind.; and by four grandchildren, Joseph, Paul, David and Rachel Conley.
Maurice was a lifetime area resident. He worked for Wheelabrator for 44 years until he retired in 1978. He was a member of the BK Club, Mishawaka. He enjoyed gardening and spending time out in his garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, June 17, in the Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 18, in the Hahn Funeral Home, with Rev. Erv Mize officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
